Delete your Driftbottle account
Last updated: September 19, 2026
You can delete your Driftbottle account at any time — in the app, or by email if you
can't use the app. Deleting it is permanent and can't be undone.
Delete it in the app
- Open Driftbottle and sign in.
- Tap the account icon (the person) at the top right of the screen.
- Tap Account.
- Scroll down to Danger Zone and tap Delete
Account.
- Enter your password, then tap the check mark to confirm
Permanently delete your account?
A shortcut to the same place: the account icon › About & Credits ›
Delete your account.
Your account is deleted straight away, and you're signed out. Forgotten your
password? Tap Forgot password? on the sign-in screen to reset it first,
or ask us by email instead.
Ask us by email
Email [email protected] from the email address on
your account, with the subject "Delete my Driftbottle account". We'll reply to that
address to check the request really came from you — nothing is deleted until you've
confirmed from it — then delete the account within 30 days and let you know when it's
done. It's deleted exactly as if you'd done it in the app.
What's deleted
- Your account: username, email address, password, bottler name, social links,
profile label, two-factor authentication settings and recovery codes, app settings,
coins and bottle inventory.
- Every bottle you dropped, wherever it is — including its recording or text
message, label, name, where it is and its drift path.
- Your keepsakes (saved labels) and labeled bottles.
- Labels you drew on other players' bottles — they're taken off those bottles.
- Your sign-in sessions and any unused sign-in links and codes, your blocks (the ones
you made, and anyone's against you), and the record of who referred you.
Recordings and pictures are deleted from our storage at the same time. If our storage
provider can't be reached at that moment, we try again every day until they're gone.
Bottles from other players that you were still holding go back into the world where
you found them, for someone else to find.
What's kept, and for how long
- Reported content: if something you posted was reported, the copy
we keep for our moderators — the recording, text message or picture, the bottle's name,
where and when a reported bottle was dropped (the approximate spot it was kept at), and
your username and email address — is deleted one year after the report, or one year after we reported it to NCMEC or the
authorities asked us to keep it (see our Privacy
Policy).
- Moderation records: reports you filed or that concern your
content, and our internal log of the actions staff took on them and on your account.
If we delete your account for you, including when you ask by email, that log entry
notes the account's username. These records aren't deleted on a fixed schedule; we
keep them only as long as we need them to keep Driftbottle safe and meet legal
obligations.
- Purchase records, if you made any purchases, for accounting and
refunds, for as long as those require.
- Anything else the law requires us to keep, for as long as the law
requires.
- Copies other players already have: we don't remove copies of your
labels that other players kept. A keepsake keeps the label together with the bottler
name (or username) and social links your bottle showed at the time; a labeled bottle in
their inventory keeps the label (and so does any bottle they've dropped with it since).
These stay with them until they delete them.
- Found bottles: the owner of a bottle you found and recycled still
sees that it was found (never who found it), for as long as that bottle exists.
- Records of recent sign-in attempts, which can include your email
address, are deleted automatically within a few days.
- Database backups kept by our hosting provider, Render, expire
within 7 days.
- Emails we sent you (sign-in links, codes and account notices) are
kept by our email provider, Resend, for up to 30 days.
- Emails you sent us, including a deletion request, pass through
Mailgun, which keeps records of them for up to 30 days; in our support mailbox we keep
them only as long as we need them to handle your request and keep a record of it.
- Server logs (the time, the part of the app requested, and your IP
address — never your location) are kept by our hosting provider, Render, for no more
than 30 days.
- Crash reports (error details and device information) are deleted
by our error-monitoring provider, Sentry, automatically within 90 days.
