Next Step

A calm companion for eating disorder recovery.

Next Step keeps you company through meals and snacks. Start a check-in with a few gentle questions, and a timer with pacing prompts runs alongside you. You can pause it at any time. If things feel hard partway through, you can open word games, breathing exercises or calming sounds without leaving the timer, then finish with a short reflection.

The SOS button puts emergency numbers first, then offers grounding exercises, guided breathing and crisis helplines for the US, Canada, the UK and Australia. Between check-ins you can set gentle weekly goals, work through a challenge ladder at your own pace, and turn on discreet reminders.

Everything is stored on your phone and works offline, with no account. Crash reports are sent only if you choose to share them. If you want, you can create a free Cloud Backup account to restore your data on a new phone, connect with your own therapist or dietitian, choose what they can see, and message them.

Next Step is for iPhone and Android. It also runs on iPad and Android tablets. The crisis-line Call and Text buttons need a device that can make calls and send texts. On a tablet, tapping one also shows the number to use from another phone. It's a support tool to use alongside your care. It isn't medical advice or treatment, and it isn't an emergency service.

If you need help right now

If you're in danger or need urgent medical help, call 911 in the US, or your local emergency number. In the US you can also call or text 988 (988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or text HOME to 741741 (Crisis Text Line), any time. More helplines, including for Canada, the UK and Australia, are on our Support page.
